- Note: Constellium Valais comprises four production units in the canton of Valais: a billet casthouse in Chippis, a slab casthouse in Steg, and an extrusion plant and plate mill in Sierre, with over 600 employees in total. The ASI Performance Standard certificate covers the Chippis, Steg, Sierre Extrusion and Sierre Plate plants, and among supply chain activities lists aluminium remelting and refining and casthouses. The company names Valais – alongside Issoire, Neuf-Brisach and Děčín – as a plant with significant capacity for recycling scrap from various applications, from automotive to aerospace; volumes are not published. In June 2024 the site was hit by a flood in the Rhône valley: costs exceeded USD 100 million, restoring power took three months, and reconstruction was completed in 2025. Note: a separate Novelis Switzerland plant operates in parallel in Sierre – they should not be confused. Constellium Valais SA employs over 600 people and operates at three locations: a billet casthouse in Chippis, a slab casthouse in Steg and an extrusion plant and plate rolling mill in Sierre. This is a separate part of the Sierre site from the Novelis strip rolling mill – after the sale of the north building assets in 2023–2024 Constellium kept its own casthouses and the plate and extrusion departments. The shared infrastructure of the plant is managed by a 50/50 joint venture company with Novelis Switzerland. The Steg casthouse also supplies slabs to other rolling plants of the group. The Valais complex comprises three locations: Sierre, Chippis and Steg, and is an example of a plant carrying out both rolling and extrusion. Constellium produces here extruded products from high-strength alloys, including for aerospace and defence. The rolling part of the Sierre site is used by Novelis, which is sometimes a source of misunderstanding when assigning the plant to a corporate group. The group does not publish capacity by location.
