- Status: operating
- Metals: aluminium
- Capacity: 220 kt/yr
- Coordinates: 61.311, 7.804
- Source [B]: Company website (hydro.com) – https://www.hydro.com/en/global/about-hydro/hydro-worldwide/europe/norway/ardal/hydro-aluminium-as-ardal/
- Note: Årdal is one of Hydro's largest plants in Norway: 204 kt of primary aluminium per year, a casthouse, an anode plant, its own hydropower and a research centre. In its recycling overview Hydro names Årdal – alongside Høyanger – as a primary plant with an integrated recycling unit, but scrap processing capacity is not announced, and the plant description on the Hydro website does not mention recycling at all. The scrap remelted is mainly post-production scrap and return metal, supplementing liquid metal from electrolysis in the casthouse. The company's sources do not describe Hydro's other Norwegian casthouses (Sunndal, Karmøy, Husnes) as equipped with a dedicated scrap line.
