Scrap is bought through its own trading network across Europe, and the plants are functionally separated: Odolo carries out sorting and feedstock preparation, Casto (Malpaga and Ferriera) melting and residue recovery, Vobarno under the Silval brand produces alloys of increased purity, and Nuvolera is a finished goods warehouse. Metal is delivered as continuously cast ingots and in liquid form, which links the plant to die casting foundries within a radius of several tens of kilometres. Customers are mainly automotive suppliers, for whom the company keeps a product carbon footprint account. Raffmetal, together with Fondital, belongs to the Aluminium Stewardship Initiative. Registration note: the plant is not in Ghedi but in the Valle Sabbia valley in the province of Brescia.
