## Plants

### Brownhills (Walsall) and Hinckley (Brownhills (Walsall), United Kingdom)

- Link: secondary aluminium and foundry alloys
- Status: operating
- Metals: aluminium
- Coordinates: 52.642, -1.927

- Note: The Central England arm of the Tandom group, with a plant on Apex Road in Brownhills near Walsall and a second opened in 2024 on Newton Road in Hinckley, Leicestershire. Both sites serve the West Midlands foundry and extrusion cluster, accepting aluminium scrap and dross from foundries, extrusion plants and processors, carrying out their shredding, baling and preliminary treatment, and dross processing within the group's capacity. The material feeds the group's rotary furnaces in Congleton, and the recovered metal returns to customers as ingots or under a tolling arrangement. The start-up of the Hinckley plant in 2024 is the only significant expansion of dross processing capacity in the United Kingdom since the closure of Befesa's Whitchurch plant in 2020. Processing capacity is not announced, nor is the split of capacity between the group's plants.

### Congleton (Congleton (Cheshire), United Kingdom)

- Link: dross and salt-slag processing
- Status: operating
- Metals: aluminium
- Coordinates: 53.164, -2.211
- Source [B]: Company website (tandom.co.uk) – https://www.tandom.co.uk/
- Note: The plant at Radnor Park Industrial Estate in Congleton is a British processor of aluminium dross and scrap, which also provides tolling remelting. It is equipped with two tilting rotary furnaces of 13 and 6 t capacity with oxy-gas burners; the firm stresses that the tilting rotary furnace is the most effective way of processing dross, because it maximises metal recovery with significantly lower salt consumption than fixed-axis rotary furnaces. Dross of lower metal content first passes through the company's own mill separating aluminium from oxides, richer dross goes straight to the furnace; the by-product is salt slag, of which less is generated than in classic solutions. Besides dross, the company shreds and bales aluminium scrap and produces master alloys, and since 2024 has been developing the LOCAL (Low Carbon Aluminium) brand – aluminium collected and processed in the United Kingdom. Processing capacity is not published.
